Since I have an audience
Posted on December 12th, 2007 in Ramblings |

I may as well use this blog for what it really is….a personal blog. And I figured with the recent influx of comments (maybe not influx, but it’s good to know I’m not talking to myself), that I’d see what everyone is up to.
So, what are you up to? Are you trying to make money online? Are you chilling with the kids, playing Guitar Hero 2, biding your time until Christmas to bust out GH3? Talk to me, I wanna know.
Anything on your mind? I’ll tell you why I haven’t been blogging here so much, if at all lately. I have taken on some blogging jobs to try to make some extra cash so that I can quit my real job.
There’s of course Earsucker, my music blog. It doesn’t make a gazillion trillion brazillion dollars yet, but maybe someday….. Then there’s Star Offenders, which is a strong competitor for Earsucker, traffic-wise. Both blogs together brought in over 60k pageviews last month. So you can imagine that I have my hands full with those two.
Other than that, I have taken on a celebrity blogging job that pays per post. I can’t disclose the website name, but it’s a cool blog with a really nice design. Being the stats junkie that I am, I don’t have access to the amount of pageviews for this particular blog. That’s the only thing I would change for that job, though.
There’s also Newblogger, which I’ve been meaning to post about how much I’ve made from blogging last month. That site got it’s first review recently. Ten bucks is still ten bucks, right?
What have you been up to?

tryn to make extra money
No thoughts of making money online in this head … nor playing Guitar Hero. I’ve mostly been traveling. ‘Tisn’t the season, I know, and most of the roads are closed … but a reprieve from the grind stone of work is always an excuse to get away. And then, of course, spending some time with friends and family … who naturally don’t want to leave home during the holidays.
I’ve been trying to work towards building a RSS readership, but I’m finding it very hard. Traffic has increased, but RSS numbers haven’t, and I wont stop until I figure it out.
Logic would say I produce sub-par content, but I do well with social traffic, so that can’t be it.
Congrats on the 60k readers; my one site is pulling in 15k pageloads a month at the moment. I’m jealous
Hi there Roberta. I stumbled in here from a link off a link.I have to say..I love the place and glad you are back…atleast I think you are back. *must hunt down links or your other sites*
Ah, Curious George . . . my hero! Now you’re talkin’ my language!
That’s amazing you receive so many visits per month as a celebrity blogger! Nice title pump!
Similarly like yourself, I am looking for ways to quit my day job and go full time on my online projects. It’s hard as I don’t get home till 7pm and then only have abit of time with my pregnant wife. When she gives birth in March, I am going to have my hands full!
Wow! I new I hadn’t been by in a while but I didn’t realize it had been this long.
Hope things are going well with your new ventures. Look forward to seeing you around again soon.
I agree, ‘ten bucks IS ten bucks’. Great attitude Roberta! Like your writing style: honest, chatty, fresh, nice gal - not in your face agressive like many…just subsribed tell us more about your millions.
Having an audience at your blog is great, especially if you aren’t used to it–Like me! Congratulations on your blogging jobs, I hope some money comes in for you.
As for me, I’m launching a business and trying to maintain two blogs which I have realized is not an easy feat! And here I sit at 5:30am with nothing but coffee, cigarettes and the cold outside to keep me company. A night in the life of struggling bloggers/entrepreneurs, huh?
Good luck on making money online so you can quit your job!
Can you believe that there are 2 of us? This is my married name and I have been married for 47 years. I am living in Florida now, but was born and raised in Pittsburgh and hubby was born in Detroit, but also raised in Pittsburgh. He is now 84 years old. Would love to hear from you as to where you are, etc.
This is my 1st visit to your blog … found the link at “Everything and Nothing” this morning and am wishing I’d met you when I started my blogs last October. I might know more than I do now if I had because you seem to have lots of good “stuph” here for new bloggers. I’ll definitely be checking back regularly even though I’m blogging “just for fun” and learning as I go.
Hugs and blessings,
I think it’s fun that you posted a picture of Curious George and then posted about blogging for money!
I’m glad that’s working out for you!
Keep posting here and I’ll be sure to come back!
I have also devoted a ridiculous amount of time to learning about blogging and implementing some of the suggestions. Wtih a job and three kids, this is no easy task in my “spare time.”
Me too, I am looking for some ways to quit my jobs. Work harder! I believe I will get what I want.
Just keep on doing things the way you do! There`s no grater thing than
feeling good about things you do! Good luck Roberta!
