How to create a post in Wordpress

This post is a part of Blue Jar’s Group Writing Project.

On the Wordpress Dashboard, click the “Write” tab at the top of the screen. On the Write screen, you are able to name your post, under the “Title” area. Directly underneath that, you’ll find the buttons for inserting bold text, italicized text, links, blockquotes, images, ordered and unordered lists, and more.
Underneath that, you’ll see the “Post” section. Here is where your content goes. To link to someone, highlight your text and click the link button. This will prompt you to enter in the URL that you wish to link to.
Under the content area of the post, there is a section called Categories. This will appear if you have the Cat2Tag plugin installed on your blog. Otherwise, you can create new categories on the upper-right hand side of the Write page.
Uploading pictures is also a snap. Under the categories section is the place where you can upload a picture that you’ve downloaded to your computer. Click the Browse button, and select the picture that you wish to upload. From there, click the Upload button. Shazzam, that’s it, it should appear on your server in a format something like this:
/wp-content/uploads/2007/whatevermonthitis/yourpicname.jpg
If you’d like to publish your article on a future date, use the Post Timestamp area on the right hand side. You can change this to whenever you want the article to be live on your blog.
