With all of the blogs out there asking the question, “What are the top five things you like about blogging?” or questions of that sort, it made me think.
We’re always saying what we like about blogging, naming off things like, ‘it’s the ability to be a part of the community’, ‘I want to be read’, and ‘to making extra cash online’.
It got me to wondering, what don’t you like about blogging?
I mean, what is it that bothers you about the blogosphere? No matter how big or small, something has to get your undies in a bunch.
My biggest pet peeve right now is the fact that people aren’t encouraging comments by following the do-follow movement. I love to hop around and read blogs and if I’ve found yours nifty enough to comment on it, then send on the link love. I do it for my readers.
I guess this sort of seems rather tit-for-tat, but I like it.
What’s your blogging pet peeve?

Yeah, why not get out there and start a trend of sorts? I was happy to find that I was a SOB (successful outstanding blogger) from Liz Strauss and it’s little pieces of recognition like that, that sometimes keeps us going.
I’m starting something today, right here, right now. You get to be in on it. It’ll be fun and it will build us a community of one sort: girl bloggers. Or, better yet, “Rockin’ Girl Bloggers”. How do you like that?
This one-time deal comes with a nifty badge as well:
Know anyone that deserves this nifty award? Let’s make a ginormous list of rockin’ girl bloggers. I am going to tag some of the rockin’ girl bloggers that I read regularly. From there, they can tag some more rockin’ girl bloggers, and so forth. So, if you’re a girl or woman and you blog and you have to rock, then you’re in
I tag, in no particular order:
Angie at SunCoastScribe
Pfunk
Pocklock
Liz Strauss (for the inspiration)
MsDanielle (last, but not least, because she has rockin’ 80’s trivia)
If you’re either a guy or your name isn’t on this list, it doesn’t mean you can’t participate. Just grab the badge and tell a girl blogger out there that she rocks!!
I already know I rock, so you don’t have to tell me…lol
Also, a rockin’ shout out to Donovan at Wii-Contests for being an avid supporter of the Rockin’ Girl Bloggers movement!

The first edition of rewarding regular readers is here.
Without further ado, I give to you these wonderful posts by regular commentators on this site:
Angie has a great post over at SunCoastScribe about comments. Check that out!
Donovan from BlogThatOutside talks about quitting smoking with Chantix, he’s on Day 8, congrats Donovan, you can do it! He also has a post at NewBlogger about five ways to share the link love.
(Donovan gets two links because I’m the queen of this site and it just so happens that he bought me my first cocktail…thanks Donovan, I’ll be drinking that tomorrow night!)
PFunk has a funny post about dating younger guys and reminiscing about passing notes in a bar. How cute!
Be sure to have a looksie at Jonathan’s post about money and wasting time worrying about making money. It’s an insightful post and a very good read.
That’s all I have for ya in the Friday link love roundup, enjoy!

You know you wanna be an SOB, too….and it’s not what you’re thinking, either…hehe
Liz Strauss over at Successful-blog has deemed me an SOB, which is a successful and outstanding blogger.
And it comes with a nifty badge, too:

How cool is that? I would’ve noticed sooner, but most of my time was being spent floating around the hospital with my son.
Thanks Liz, you rock!

Self promotion is more than just getting someone to link to you. It’s more than just sending a friendly email saying, ‘hey, I like your site, wanna do a link trade?” It’s a form of self-expression, if done right.
Getting involved in your blogging community is more powerful than a little link trade email. Visiting others’ sites and commenting on their posts, and getting in that top commentator’s spot is also a handy way of being a part of the community. Some do contests to boost reader participation. These are done in hopes that we’ll all come out of “lurker” status and actually become a part of the conversation at hand.
So, get out there and subscribe to someone else’s feed. Comment on something. Or, click on one of their ads. This is all done in little time and gives back to the blogging community. If you’ve really enjoyed their site, or a particular post, “buy them a beer or coffee”. It takes little effort and shows them that you care about what they have to say. You can throw a dollar someone’s way for a job well done. Chances are, they will very much appreciate the gesture, and may link to you in return.
I’d fathom a guess that a nifty plugin will emerge for Wordpress, where people can list the top five people that bought them a beer. That would be a nice addition to the top commentators spot on someone’s blog. Especially if that blog generates a lot of traffic.
What is self promotion to you?

What I’ve noticed in my neverending search for information is that not a whole lot of people blog on the weekends. I’m always looking for new spins on blogging and the blogosphere as a whole. I want more information, more news, more stuff to clutter my mind!
Give me a blog that posts rather frequently on the weekends, and chances are, I’ll read it constantly.
Why?
No one else is really doing it.
Usually bloggers will save their posts for the Monday through Friday stint because most of their readers are at work, reading, while they should be working. While I don’t mind this, as I do the same thing, and I hope you read this at work, too. But, and this is a big but, what if people can’t access your page from work and want some new information, then what?
Post it over the weekend.

Each of us are individuals, and as individuals, we have our own unique personalities. Our personalities shine in everything that we do. Whether it’s being at work or just hanging around the house watching television. We all have our opinions, that’s what makes us different.
Having the internet is like having the world as our stage. We can take on anonymity or blog about everything we see. We have photoblogs and blogs about everything under the sun. There are blogs about making money online and there are blogs about cutesy little animals. These are all indicative of something much bigger than the internet community, a worldwide plethora of amazing resources, vast knowledge, and a much bigger community.
The internet opens the door of shyness, and lets you scream, “Here I am! look at me!” or “I hate this place, work sucks!” What’s not to love?
What part do you play on this stage?

I got a comment on my other page, Earsucker, recently, and Donovan over at BlogthatOutside covered whether or not to viralink. I saw this again today at BobMeetsWorld and decided to see what the fuss was about.
It appears that Andy Coates will link to you on his viralink on one of his empty stars if you put that grid of *s on your site. I’ve went to several of the sites that have done this viralink thing (it’s annoying, I almost did it) and verified whether or not Mr. Coates was doing his part in adding those people. Guess what? He wasn’t.
Quit spamming my blogs, I will hunt you down.
